View Full Version : Ground clearance in OEPS races
Hi,
I haven't any experience about OEPS prototypes and tyre wearing of them in endurance races.
Do you think that 1,0 mm ground clearance is enough at start of race?
How many handout tyre pairs in OEPS races?

Hello Kai,
the minimum groundclearance needs to be 1,0mm ALL THE TIME so it is up to the teams to decide at what ground clearance they start on. There are 2 sets of tires available for the entire race, per team.
When you change them is your own choice/strategy, just as long you don't get below 1,0mm.
Be aware that groundclearance will be measured with all four wheels standing on the techblok and the guide in a big hole. So the braids do not influence a car's groundclearance.
My experience is that tires wear about 0,25mm in diameter (so 0,125mm groundclearance) per hour on a semi-grippy track that I think Dison is. So... you can form a strategy yourself :nice:
Hi, Nick
thank you for this information. Especially formula 0,25 mm/h is very usable.
But rule book says:
1.05 Min. groundclearance at the start of the race: 1.00 millimeter
1.06 Min. groundclearance during and after the race: 0.40 millimeter
I was going to create our team strategy accordind rule book... if 0,40 mm is possible in Dison...
Regards
Kai
PS. I have never understood the purpose of complicated ground clearance rules of model car racing. ISRA rules are much easier...
