Aston Lola

Hope posting this here is ok...... I decided to start a new Project......
One of the cars we are all waiting for !
I chose to use the 908 as a base due to the fact that
.1 I could'nt get/use anything else and
.2 the measure ments are just spot on ;-)
The body lengths are identical, the width too.
Dimensions
Peugeot 908:
Longueur 4610mm
Largeur 2000 mm
Empattement 2950 mm

Aston Lola B06 09:
? Length: 4634mm (+1mm)
? Width: 1990mm (-0.8mm)
? Wheelbase: 2890mm (+3.5mm)

The only dimensiolnal difference is the wheel base
and in 1:24 were talking 3,5mm and the Aston has about
that much more front overhang... so - EASY PEASY
Want this to be a QUICKY so no real explanations but lots
of PIX... they speak louder than words anyway

a small update....
I started work on the roof yeaterday, but first I reshaped the rear fenders which I was not really feeling and added the small flaps L & R....

another update.....
did the second side air intakes (Drivers side, found a pretty interesting solution for the Radius one the front
intake...., Started work on the front window, I could have just used the 908 window and frame but that would not have been correct. Also did work on the rear end, the exhaust duct ... that will really be interesting.... sure it will come out fine.
It is a lot more work than expected but then, I have "only" worked about 6 days on the project , and Lemans, and a few other minor body lamination ()08, R10,R8...) jobs got in the way so its still kind of a quickie ;-)

So as always, let the pics do the talking, as they really do say it better ;-)

I think your version is more difficult to build, but when it´s done it´s a great car. As I wrote, it´s fantastic to see the Aston live!

Was away for 2 days, not much happened at the SF.
I cleaned up the body a bit so that I can finally start
with the panel lines and the window outlines. Also adjusted
the rear fenders a little.

There have been a few updates... but less time to post ;-)
Had to reshape a few parts eg. the front window which imho
was a bit too "flat" so I slapped on a blob of putty and sanded
and sanded and sanded until i was happy with the amount of
dust i had created and the new shape.
Panel lines... major pain... worse than "A.Cleaning". (;-) ) but a
mans gotta do what a mans gotta do so..engrave panel lines i did.
Drilled holes for the Gas fillers and for the exhaust pipes.
Cleaned up the side panels and had to add to the left side sills coz
i had lost material some where along the line....
Primer primer primer to see how "clean" the whole thing is and where
corrections are needed....

And now, the Master is ready to take a sili bath so that master for the
windows can be made....

One more update ...
made a silikon mold of the MAster at the stage where it just had the windows outlined whicht I will in turn use to vacuum form windows with the correct shape.
Then I cut out the window recesses so that I will have some thing to glue the windows to.
and made a silikon mold of the Master with the recessed windows. Which is also the mold that will be used to Laminate.

Clean up,
fix small defects,
Prime,
Paint.....
build chassis
mount
race.

So .... Finally!
2.5 Weeks _ from a Peugeot 908 HDI FAP to a Lola-Aston Martin B09/60, aka Aston Martin DBR1-2.

Got the body looking more or less ok, reworked the wheel arches and had to remove some material above the front axle holders, Air brushed the Aston Blue and masked off and sprayed on the Orange.... The dark blue separation lines (btw. Blu & Or) were cut out from a plain blue decal sheet, the Gulf and Michelin decals are left overs from an old project. The front lip, side air boxes and the side sills I covered with carbon decal so "All" I have to do now, is add windows, build an interior, marry the body to the chassis make a spoiler with Holders, ......

Guys. I am a bit frustrated!
Been in Berlin since Monday Without
any slotscars and I am freekin out!
The trade show is fun but building is funn'er!
can't wait to get back to my Keller.... good thing
Is that Yinka is with me and it's her birthsday today so Its a candel light dinner under a 3/4 full moon by the Spree and nice music, good food, good wine....
there really is a bit more to life than building slotcars. ;-)

That looks the bussiness!, its been a pleasure to follow this build Fola, I only hope my Sauber C-9 that I am building will turn out as good. Do you have to make your own decals or is there a sheet availible?

Put on a fresh clear coat and now Lilly is looking real slick!
HAve to carbonize the rear wing , and marry the body to the chassis and then
add all the stuff I always add and nobody really needs ;-)

Mounted lights in the Lola last night, and now she's looking real tight !
Used an over drive kit, as i like the fact that they offer a brake light function.....
