AMERICAN ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP -- RULE BOOK -- DIVISION 2
1.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1. The Division 2 Rule Set is intended as a top amateur or semi-pro category of competition and technical build with and a direct development path for racers progressing to the Division 1 or Open Pro technical specifications and competition as raced in the OEPS Series.
1.2. The Division 2 Rule Set will use a common laminated body at 1/24 scale of the 2009 Formula LeMans series cars. Maker to be announced.
2.0 WEIGHTS and MEASUREMENTS
2.1. Minimum total weight: 180.00 grams
2.2. Minimum body weight: 35.00 grams
2.3. Maximum front spur: 83.00 millimeters
2.4. Maximum rear spur: 83.00 millimeters
2.5. Minimum ground clearance at the start of the race: 1.00 millimeter
2.6. Minimum ground clearance during and after the race: 0.40 millimeter
2.7. Minimum front rim diameter: Ø20.00 mm inner and Ø21.00 mm outer
2.8. Minimum front wheel outer diameter: Ø26.50 mm
2.9. Minimum front wheel width 7.00 mm
2.10. Minimum front rim width 7.00 mm
3.0 MOTOR, GEAR AND PINION
3.1. Either of the two motors as described by Art.3.2. or Art.3.3. at the discretion of the Race Series Organizers.
3.2. The sealed ProSlot PS4000-COMPETION with balanced armature and ball bearings. Always 9T pinion gear and 44T spur gear at M50 pitch.
3.3. The sealed Plafit Fox II motor with original Plafit markings on the can. Fixed M50 pitch gear ratio at the discretion of the Race Organizers.
3.4. Differentials are not allowed.
4.0 CHASSIS
4.1. The homologated chassis is the PLAFIT SLP2.
4.2. Assembly of chassis must be done according to the manufacturer?s design (see fig.4a) using nuts and bolts to the original holes provided in the chassis.
4.3. Allowed modifications are limited to: (i) motor bracket, (ii) guide, guide holder & guide nut, (iii) ball-bearings, (iv) the spring plate and (v) body mounts/holders. Only the body mounts, the spring plate and the guide holder may be carbon.
4.4. Independent front bearing and axle holders are permitted: Part No. PF1702D (see fig.4b)
4.3. Only one part of the chassis is allowed to enter the track?s slot, and this part may not have a contact area longer than 27mm.
4.4. Magnets are only present in the motor, and are not allowed in any other part of the chassis.
4.5. Only one chassis is allowed to be used for the duration of the race.
5.0 WHEELS, AXLES & BEARINGS
5.1. Only steel 3mm Ø blank axles are permitted. No differential gearing is permitted.
5.2. Allowed are 6mm diameter ball bearings of any make. Fitment to the chassis must be preformed without any cutting or modification to the chassis.
5.3. The front wheels must make contact with the track or tech block over the full 7 millimeters, or more.
5.4. Rear wheels are handout Scaleauto ProComp wheels, Ø27.5 mm, 13 mm wide, Ø20 mm inside. Tyre dressing is not allowed. Rear tyres may be only be cleaned by using tape.
5.5. All 4 wheels of the car must be fitted with 3-dimensional wheel inserts, resembling the wheels of the real 1:1 car, during the entire race duration
5.6. None of the wheels may be visible when looked on the assembled car from above. Spur will be measured over the complete rims left and right.
6.0 BODY
6.1. Body must be made from one or more of the following materials: injection molded plastic (e.g. Commercially manufactured plastic model kits or slot car bodies); or molded and resin laminated with glass fiber, carbon fiber, or similar materials.
6.2. Bodies must be fitted windshield and side windows as found on the 1:1 car.
6.3. Bodies must be fitted with side mirrors, rear spoiler and rear diffuser as found on the 1:1 car.
6.4. Lexan is not allowed for any integrated part or body panel of the body.
6.5. Lexan is allowed for the windows, rear wing, diffuser and small aerodynamic parts, etc.
6.6. Only one body is allowed to be used for the duration of the race.
6.7. Body must be painted and decaled to accurately resemble the 1:1 car.
7.0 INTERIOR
7.1. The interior must contain the following 3-dimensional items: dashboard, steering wheel, roll cage, driver figure with legs, head and helmet combination in hard plastic material.
7.2. Lexan is allowed for the interior compartment and driver figure.
7.3. The interior and driver must be painted.
8.0 LIGHTS
8.1. Functioning lights have to be present at during all night sections of the race. These lights have to be installed on their original 1/1 location in the car.
8.2. Front lights: minimum two lights in total, one left, one right, yellow or white color, bright beam.
8.3. Rear lights: minimum two lights in total, one left, one right, red color, diffuse light.
8.4. Lights must have lens covers if they appear on the 1:1 car. (addendum 8/27.09.09)
9.0 REPAIRS
9.1. Following repairs must be carried out within 5 laps from when the damage first occurred :
(a) replacing or refitting the windshield
(b) refitting the rear wing
(ç) replacing or refitting the wheel insert(s)
(d) if any part of the car other then the guide and wheels, touch and/or damage the track.
(e) during night sections, non-functioning front and/or rear lights (ie. less then 3 corners of the car illuminated for more then half a lap with the exception of braking for a corner).
(f) all repairs must be carried out under green and during racing time unless specifically approved by the Race Direction.
