Hi guys,
The kit was a Hasegawa Porsche 962C, changed over to a short tail. ![]() ![]() ![]() This beautiful car is not available as a kit, but was made from one of our homologated kits using the original rear wing and rear body sections. The motivation for it's creator was two-fold: - one, it's different yet scale and not available in kit form (if it ever was it is no longer available) - two, it's a better handling car than the usual 962C due to it being lighter behind the rear wheels, thereby resulting in better weight distribution. On the one hand it will give us more variation and allow the Porsche enthusiasts another 1:1 car to replicate as some of the kits are rather scarce. But, on the other hand, how will we deal with 'other' kit modifications that might get proposed. ![]() One thing is for sure, if we allow this car, we will have to specify the exact measurements involved in the modification and so will we have to for any other car variants possibly being proposed along the way. ![]() Another problem will be extra scrutineering time of such variants if specific measurements for specific body modifications are required. At the moment any doubt about a body's authenticity is easily resolved by checking it against the plastic kit building instructions. ![]() So that brings us to the fact that maybe we are already doing so without realising it as there is one Tamiya Porsche 962C kit which comes with two rear wing configuration choices. Can anyone shed some light on what that requires the builder of the kit to change, or is it a simple choice of one wing over another?![]() Please give us your comments on this one. Cheers Jan

There is a kit available in the short version, but I am buggered if I can remember which manufacturer. Red & Black car. I have a feeling Andrew may have one Jan... Check Sunday....
The other thing, if you modify a long tail kit, as long as it looks reasonable, does it matter about the measurements, as you have a body weight. This would be difficult to police. Maybe a flat strip all the way along the back at a maximum height from the track. But the rules are already quite intensive and more rules may not be a good thing. ...No chassis pic's available, Mark. But I believe it is using a SLP2 Chassis.
Here are some more examples : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ....And two real ones : ![]() ![]() Maybe we should look at this in 2011 rather then in the first year of our Group C Class. But one thing is for sure : It certainly offers more possibilities in building a Porsche 962/956. Cheers Werner |

![]() why the mad smiley???![]() then you say cheersany reason for that ? maybe my question has annoyed you, because the availability of parts here in australia is limited ![]() btw i thought this is MODEL CAR racing . modellers building their cars and putting them on the track to race like the real ones we build them and race them accordingly as per 1/1 scale since their availability here in australia is limited, not unless we import them from o/s,the prices is skyrocketing . not to mention other racers who thinks otherwise of their co competitors' cars and deliberately try to wreck them. ![]() my name is erik Last edited by sg1; 04-02-2010 at 10:47 PM. |

Hi Erik
![]() Welcome to the worldslotracing.com forum. We're a dedicated INTERNATIONAL group of enthusiasts specifically dealing with 1/24 Scale Model Car Racing, but without other hidden agendas. The basic rules of the forum are available, and Jan was simply anxious because you did not sign off your post with your name, which is how we all do on this forum. ![]() So no worries, we just like to talk to each other on first name basis, espcially as we'll often meet in person at an International event, and then be able to put a name to a face. I think answer's to your questions around the PEC event will be answered in due course, it's going to take a little time to get a proper set of rules with no discrepancies available for the Hard Body Cars, and as the official version of the series is still in it's infancy, this will eventually sort itself out. I also expect the event organizers will respond about the variance in bodies. As for sourcing of bodies, kits etc, mate, you're not the only one in this situation, and I can personally confirm MANY Europeans are also having to import kits from overseas for themselves. This isn't a "European thing vs an Australian thing" at all. With eBay and online shops around, if your local importer doesn't have stock or cannot get it in time, but you can source something online, and it's legal for that category of racing, then I'm sure there's no problem getting the kit yourself. We all have to do this sometime. Anyway, hope all gets cleared up and the racing is good. Enjoy your stay on the forum. regards Al
